*Heli 3D TEST. If you can follow my mild 3D flight and can tell exactly what I am doing the entire time with the transmitter sticks, then you are probably ready for 3D helicopters. At this point the learning process will begin again! Watching others fly helps me, so maybe this will help you. That is my goal…..to help so you don't learn the hard way like I did.
Yes the sun does shine here in Iowa sometimes and the first flight today was that way, but the second was a bit windy and cloudy. Hmmm..back to normal! We have to learn to fly in the wind here, or we would never get to fly at all, and with these OLD EYES it is nice to have some sun shining on the model so a guy can see it…..especially without his orange pontoons! LOL.

Remember "If it sounds stupid but it works, it ain't stupid!"

NitroPlanes 3D Hawk. An “In-Flight” product review, see for yourself!

NitroPlanes 3D Hawk. An "In-Flight" product review, see for yourself!

NitroPlanes 3D Hawk. An "In-Flight" product review, see for yourself!

*Please Read* When Jeff said mentioned he would like to try the 3D Hawk from NitroPlanes, I went ahead and ordered 2, not knowing what I was even buying. Mine's together now and Jeff is almost done with his. Make sure to watch the planned upcoming "COMBAT" video since it is made from that "bendable" EPP foam, and should last quite a while.

The Hawk comes with everything you need for about $69 except the TX and RX.
3 fast 5G servos, 10 A ESC/BEC combo, 600mAh LiPo, hardware, both tapes, decals, Prop, Prop-saver, and a C-20 2050 KV brushless motor.

This is quite a value pack!

Well, after that first flight, I felt good, cause I sure had trouble with "High Alpha" landings with my F4, so this was really pleasing to fly, albeit a bit windy, definitely "Landable".

I cannot wait to fly it in the gym with no wind, so stay tuned for some upcoming videos on that too.
If your a beginner, a bit of experienced help may be necessary from someone, because the 6 pictures in the "Instruction manual" are not really very clear.

I guess the Chinese figure we Americans should be smart enough by now to be able to figure this all out with no problem.
Were not as old as them, and we are still learning, but I figured it out, so it couldn't be that hard. LOL.

An example: After assembling mine I wanted to know about CG location. The picture in the "manual" said make sure CG is as in Pic 11, but Pic 11 doesn't show the CG.

So I put my battery as far forward using Velcro. It is always better to fly nose heavy than tail heavy for first flights.

Since flying it now, I am leaving the battery there, because it needs the nose weight in our winds.

Specs:
Fuse Length- 720 mm
Wingspan- 650 mm
Flying weight- 210-220 Gram. (about 8 ounces)
Motor- Brushless outrunner C20 2050 KV
Prop 7-3.5
ESC 10A
Servos-5G
Battery- 7.4, 600mAh

I really do like this plane, and it has easily become a favorite of mine that I can fly anywhere.

Best Regards,
Dave Herbert

"NightFlyyer" drops in on RC Eagles club in Denver & flies Gas Extra 260.

Making a trip to visit my Daughter in Denver, brought a response from her that there was an RC flying club in Cherry Creek Park, near Denver. So, I decided to take some small planes and drop in on them when I got there. Well I was pleasantly surprised, as I was welcomed warmly. In fact, I met Tom Bell and Chuck Komes from the old and well established company called Aero-Works. They make some of the best and nicest flying World Class flying machines around. They have have a great reputation. They also make beautiful model pilots.

So of course, my first flight did not start well, as the prop flew off on launch of my (Cox Models F-4U) from GravityHobby.com.
Those planes only cost $17.77 with motors and all hardware and one heck of a deal. The second flight went well as you can see.
I also flew my PZ P-51 with lights and "machine gun lights" to show how a 1 ounce plane can fly in the wind.

I watched the fellows fly, including Clint Strate and his 3D MoJo, Tom Bell, Chuck Komes and others.

Everybody was enjoying this Mother's Day.

Climaxing the day for me was a chance to fly Tom Bell's Extra 260 with Saito.91 Gas engine.

It is a fabulous plane to fly with no bad habits. I got a chance to wring her out. I must say it was a pleasure and an honor.

So thanks kindly, Denver RC Eagles and fly safe.
